Prost!

With X marking the spot right over the house, an excursion was planned.
Phil and Naomi eagerly anticipating the festivities of Oktoberfest in Southlake.
We met up with some of Naomi's favorite people - snagging a lesson in walking from William and a sit-down in the soft grass with Hudson.
 Making eyes at Mrs. Dennison.
While her expression does not suggest as much, the bavarian creme puff was a great ending to the evening.

Welcome home

To a front door we can't get to.
 To an inaccessible carport.
Mr. Bassett is a victim of a Saran Wrap attack.
Phil practicing his disgusted look to use on his students tomorrow. Naomi confounded as to what this is.
Happily, the clean-up took the length of time of a diaper change.
And, we took a walk post-dinner, to a) enjoy the gorgeous weather and b) burn off minimal to non-existent irritation from the harmless prank as well as excess calories from a weekend of eating.

Between all the travels and family visits,

Naomi was exploring.
Books are on the bookshelf.  And can be removed from the bookshelf!
Laundry baskets are not just for laundry.
Very unusually, Naomi conks out on the living room floor.
Naomi likes inspecting her mother's activities on the computer.
Naomi discovers the joy of smiling faces, even her own.
Naomi's diet expands to include practically everything we eat, providing it is healthy.  And an apple a day...
 Eating table food is cool.
One of Mommy's favorite places: the library.  It is full of books, movies, AND fabulous toys.
Naomi learns How People Change from Tim Lane.
And when her parents don't pay enough attention, Naomi climbs in with her books.  Escape strategy gone awry.
When Mommy was under the weather, for a few moments of diversion, Naomi was allowed at the box of tissues.
Just about every morning, we take a walk and take in the sights.
.....
Every year growing up, my birthday fell around the first day of school. So, even though Phil has been teaching for three weeks already, my birthday feels like the end of summer.
Phil grilled delicious salmon and made a plum caprese salad with a special, homemade basil oil.  Naomi sitting behind my birthday sunflowers.

For dessert, Phil also made us a tiramasu.  Divine! A great capstone to a fantastic summer.

The Summer of Bassett visits

We were thankful to have many Bassetts interested in coming to visit Naomi over the course of the summer.
In May, Uncle Jonathan is back from South Korea and making the rounds.
Nana arrives and is wearing matching pink polka dots!
Papaw helps post-bath.
Naomi has impeccable posture already!  Uncle Jonathan comes back through in May, overlapping with a Nana and Papaw visit.
One object of affection: Nana. A second: Nana's camera case.
Cozy times with the Peterson family, who we are thrilled to have nearby in Bedford.
Talking a walk with Uncle Jonathan; braving the heat.
In June, Nana and Papaw are back, and we venture out to IKEA! Naomi is initially happy to let the adults look for the perfect table. But seriously, Mom, how much longer do you think?

Gnawing on her toy to pass a few precious moments; giving in to her thumb as the deliberation continues.
Collecting the fruits of Naomi's patience.
Aunt Rachel visited too!  Thankfully, Nana snapped this photo or we would have no evidence of this June visit.
Aunt Rachel captured Naomi chilling in her bumbo.
Visiting Daddy's classroom at Covenant Christian Academy.
Smiling at Aunt Tami who stopped by the classroom, and Uncle Joel is here also! August means Phil is also back to work.
Uncle Joel brings more of what Naomi loves: a computer and phone to admire.
Squeezing in cozy time with the parents.

Oh, Uncle(s)!

Phil's parents are back two weeks after the Weekend of the Uncles, passing through on their way to Colorado.
Two loved constants of a Bassett grandparent visit: the guitar and the camera case.
A little tax-free shopping; actually totally free - because nothing was purchased. Just checking to see how Texan Naomi is.
Papaw helps feed Naomi, so we can enjoy our...
...fondue dinner!  An early birthday celebration includes a meat/broth fondue with 7 sauces and a chocolate fondue with delicious dippers.
Definitely a packed summer: fun and family galore.
