Laughter comes to the youngest Bassett

But only with her dad.  The rest of us aren't funny enough just yet.
The laughter was cut short here due to a hiccups interruption.
On the way home from church, March 27.

At the Bassett farm

It all started with Rudy's in New Braunfels, TX.
Then, we were delighted to attend the ordination service for our college friend, Trey Owens on Friday night, March 25th.  What a special evening!
Back on the homestead, Naomi helps her Papaw plant some sweet corn per Nana's request (the sweet corn, not getting Naomi out into the garden).

Naomi is bemused and fascinated by all the sights, sounds, and sensations of the Hill Country.

Nana and Naomi crack each other up.

The old farm is brimming over with picturesque scenes.  But where are the people?!

There: Phil his little girl inside the rock house.

We can always count on a large, delicious spread of food! And typically, plenty of family around to enjoy it together. Here, we have Uncle Ronnie and Aunt Gloria, Grandma Bassett, Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Don. Mrs. Hazard's head is just peaking over Don's shoulder.

Phil, Matthew, and Grandma Bassett enjoy a rock n' roll DVD featuring Matthew.

The undeniable sign of sleepiness setting in.  Disregard the bright, attentive eyes.

Naomi's great-grandparents enjoying each other's company, while Geemaw later gets a bright smile out of Naomi.

Seeing the company off from the front porch.
Sunday: Just one last song, Naomi, and then we have to leave.

"One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong."

A warm bath and a night cap are a deadly, I mean, winning combination.

One of us is more passionate about folding laundry than the other.

Naomi recommends -

- in addition to eating good, full meals:

1) Sleeping solidly both through the night and at regular intervals during the day (note: position matters), and

2) breathing in plenty of fresh spring air.

This should result in above-average growth.  She clocked in at 25 1/2 inches long and a 1/2 ounce shy of 15 pounds for her four-month appointment.

Getting handy with a spoon

Sitting on the table while I make Grandma's pound cake, I let Naomi work on getting used to a spoon. A good friend suggested this as we near food introduction.  Given the low success rate with a bottle, I thought this was an excellent suggestion.  Naomi is still deciding.

Wild times for the Bassetts

These days wild equals bowling.  Naomi was a slightly skeptical of the black light.  I'm not sure she ever came around (though neither did her mother whose bowling success dropped severely during and after strobe lights, black lights, and a Michael Jackson video).

Spring Break kick-off

Dressed for Sunday in Grandma and Opa's church.

Roosma tradition #1: Group photo outside.

Roosma tradition #2: Coffee after church (sachertorte as the centerpiece!).

Enjoying an outdoor concert, Toast and Jam.
This was her first jaunt in an umbrella stroller.

A new way to share Naomi!

Naomi monitors Phil's gift opening on his birthday, March 5th.

Naomi hugs the side of her crib typically as she sleeps.
Sometimes there is a moment of panic when a foot gets lodged in between the slats.
